Using Walkthru

Last updated October 13, 2026. One page, in plain words.

What this is

Walkthru is made and run by Stratum in Edmonton, Alberta. By signing in, by keeping or sending a walkthru, or by opening a link and recording, you agree to what is on this page. If we change it, the date above changes, and anything that affects what you pay is told to you first (see Money).

What you get

  • Asks, walkthrus, every word written down, texts, and a record that is kept.
  • We aim to be up all the time, and we have built it to keep your recordings safe through outages. We cannot promise there will never be a gap.

What is yours

  • What you record is yours. It follows your phone number, wherever you work.
  • What you send to a builder becomes part of their record as it was delivered, and they keep it. What a builder sends to a trade works the same way the other direction.

What we ask of you

  • Record only where you have the right to be and the right to record. Tell the people around you before you start. Use audio only, or wait, when a homeowner is present.
  • Use your own phone number. Do not sign in as someone else. A forwarded link has a way to say "not me".
  • Do not use Walkthru to record anything that is not about the work.

The record

Walkthru keeps what it captured and what was delivered. Archiving hides; it does not delete. That is what makes the record worth having later, and it means you should not record what you would not want kept. A walkthru made with Try it now and never kept or sent is the exception: it is deleted after 24 hours. Our privacy page says what we hold and how to have your name and number removed.

Money

  • Answering a builder's ask is free for trades, always. The free plan stays free, and nothing anybody records ever expires on any plan, paid or not.
  • Walkthrus are unlimited on every plan, Free included. Unlimited is for real work: if an account's use looks like something else, we talk to you before anything changes.
  • Paid plans and their prices are on the plans page, in Canadian dollars, plus GST, which is added at checkout and shown on every receipt.
  • Payment is through Stripe. Walkthru never sees or keeps your card number.
  • Solo and Crew are charged when you start and then every month or year, until you cancel.
  • A builder's first unit every month is free, with unlimited asks and walkthrus on it. Per unit is charged in arrears for the units after those: on the 1st we count the units your own crew was active on the month before and text you the count, and on the 5th that is what is charged. A unit that only received a trade's walkthru does not count.
  • Cancel any time from your account. Your plan runs to the end of the time already paid for, then you are on the free plan. We do not refund part of a month or a year.
  • If a card does not go through, Stripe tries it again for about two weeks and everything stays on meanwhile. After that, what the plan added stops. Nothing recorded is taken away.
  • If a price goes up, or what a plan includes changes, you are told by text or email at least 30 days before it applies to you.

Ending

You can stop using Walkthru any time; your record stays yours to see. We can end someone's access if these terms are ignored, and we will say so. Ending never deletes a record.

The fine line

Walkthru is a tool for showing work. It is not an inspection, a certification, or a warranty, and a walkthru does not replace one where one is required. If something goes wrong with Walkthru, what we owe you is at most what you paid us in the twelve months before it happened. Alberta law applies to these terms.
